Could it be swollen glands?

around the area where you can feel the pulse in you neck right at the side of the throat when i push slightly upwards it is really painful it is also painful on that 1 side when i swallow... i also have pain in my ear on the same time, its not like a ear ache its when i wove my neck i get a sharp pain in my ear. does this sound like swollen glands?
