Are minecraft animal farms patched?

i made a underground animal factory and it has alot of space upwards so a tree can grow in it but its not that wide its like 25x15 and iv been afk for a long time far away from it and i came back and theres no animals and yes theres grass everywhere and torches so did they patch it?
